In the story of Atlantis, the word 'Kimicha' is in and of itself a slang terminology for 'Queen', due in part to a woman by the name of Kimicha Iriela Kictch, the wife of the first King, Oki* Nanah Lalevin Kictch. [Thus, the first Queen of Atlantis]

Back in Atlantis' early days [the continent was still called 'Netribar' after it's only major city at the time] as a mostly Roman-founded colony-state, it's inhabitants were predominantly Arcane outcasts, seeking an accepted existence in a new land. Magic, as we know it nowadays, was nurtured here.
The land itself was filled with untapped mystic energies, and there were many diverse, even faerie-tale like monsters and races that flourished there. The early Atlantians, were uncertain about these native people and creatures. Queen Kimicha was said to be the person who established an alliance with the Sprites, and the Faekin. The Faekin alliance, sadly, broke down due to prejudice, distrust and jealousy a few hundred years after Kimicha's death in 1399 AE. [Atlantis Era: it's about the equivalent of our AD, give or take 10 years] This was also about the time the Faekin went into hiding.
During the time Kimicha reigned, she was a friend and champion of the Faekin, and came into a set of very powerful bracers as a result. They were crafted from Mythrisilver, at that time unknown to Altantian smiths, and set with arcane spelled gems. She was given them by the Lord of the Faekin, E'kanis Delbriae, whom she was very close to. [Most of the more 'controversial' history tomes tell of a Fae Lord being quite smitten with the young Kimicha Kictch, and showering her with many powerful gifts. Some of the more scandalous texts declare that there was even an affair between the two- but that was never proven.]

Kimicha Kictch was the daughter of one of the original colonists from Rome, a man who became an independently wealthy Scriptionist. [He put written spells on scrolls that anyone could use] She herself was a dabbler in the arcane arts- it is said that she also was the only human to learn the Fae's secret spells of Necromancy. [this is disputed though]
Her marriage to Nanah Lalevin Kictch, the son of a wealthy community activist [an early politician of sorts] was arranged, the two not meeting until their public wedding in 1328 AE. Two years later- after substantial backing from his own family and Kimicha's- he was elected Oki of Netribar. The couple got along well, but it could be said that there was little love in the relationship- it was a political move for both their families- not uncommon in that time. They passed a law, the first new law under their rule, abolishing forced marriages.
No one really knows when exactly Kimicha became 'The People's Queen', but in any history text you find, that's her byline. She was very much for human rights and freedoms, which endeared her to many.
Because she was such a revolutionary for her time, she is one of the more popular rulers in Atlantis' history- even topping some of the more famous Okis. She is featured in a scene on a buttress bas relief in the throne room of Castle Atlantis. [constructed in 1463 AE] She is depicted with Oki Kictch, amongst a crowd of mixed races- there is even an elaborate dragonkin in the background of the whole scene.
Queen Kimicha is also featured on Atlantian Money- the Tilan Rilane, the largest paper note in the Atlantian monetary system, bears her face. [Equivalent to $1000 US] Her husband, on the other hand, is featured on the Rilane proper, which is just $1 US.
Her bracers are considered a National Treasure, and are kept in the same vault with other extremely valuable and priceless objects, such as the one the crystal sword Aquera sat in until L'Anagin Achine came into power in 1998 AE. Since Kimicha's Death, the bracers have only ever been removed twice- once, when they were stolen by Oki Bawaru Maru "Evil Iron Hand" Kenta in 1594 AE, and the second time when Yamino Majo, the Royal 'Treasurer' "borrowed" them while trying to 'rescue' Achine in "Realms of the Dragonkin". [Was a game, was lost in my hard drive crash, will soon be a story.]
It has been noted that Majo was the only person EVER to be able to use the bracers besides Kimicha herself. [This also assumes that Faekin, the original crafters of the aforementioned bracers, can use them] Achine has never tried using them, assuming they were too fragile to be practical in combat.

* Oki [Oh-key] is the actual Atlantian word for King. The true, and more 'formal' Atlantian word for Queen is
'Akidae'. [Ahh-key-day]

And THAT is your Atlantis History lesson for today!
